Does God have a plan?  







I just had to ask that of God when I ran into him at work sitting in a vacant office. I asked what brought him here.  And why is he wearing a shirt and tie?  


He said he wanted to speak to me.   And regarding the outfit, he thought it was time to enter the 21st century.  The old robes and throne are so 12th century.   And doesn’t the shirt and tie make him more accessible?   He has asked Jesus to lead the effort.   One of the deliverables is to reorganize the angels, instead of choirs they will have teams.  


He asked what I thought of the idea?  


I thought it was a lousy idea. But I asked him won’t he miss the trappings of kingship? 


Not really, the kingship thing gets tiresome.  All this bowing and scraping and no one will tell him if he has a bad idea.  Besides all the authorities favor flattening an organization.  That way he should get better cooperation across all levels.


I told him I wanted to ask him if he (God) has a plan?


He said good - that that is exactly why he want to see me.  He told me he overheard cousin Jimmy talking to me about God’s plan for all of us.   


So does he have a plan for our lives?   


He said no, we have free will.  We are born.  He gives us a soul and then he hopes for the best.   


But what about when we get seriously ill - is he testing us? Is that part of his plan?  


He said no.  The whole idea of God managing every little bit of our lives is ridiculous.  It is just way too complicated.  It is hard enough to give you folks souls.  


So is there no good in suffering?   


He said he did not say that.  Look at you and your wife.  She is ill and look at how strong she has been in fighting her illness.  That’s a good thing to see.  Also good to see how you and your son have rallied to help her.  So that’s good too.  But he said he did not make her sick.  That’s not how it works. 


He went on, even if he had the time, why would he torture one person just to see what happens.  One life impacts so many others - so with your wife, she is impacted, but so are you and your son.  Also all the folks who know her.  It is like 20 dimensional chess.  No one would win.  And as he said, he does not have the time. 


So where did the idea come that all of it is God’s Plan?   He said it beats the shit out of him.   


He told me to tell Cousin Jimmy that he is all wrong about God’s Plan.   He also said to tell him that he should have known all along that Donald Trump was an evil piece of shit.   


Oh - he said the next time someone talks about God’s Plan, ask them what purpose was served by the Holocaust.  He reminded me that the Jews of Europe were his peeps.  


The suddenly he was covered with a cloud of smoke - and when the smoke cleared he was gone.

Our Biggest Failure - Our Constitution.

Yes, our constitution is a failure.  And no , I don't want to move to Russia. Following the Connecticut shooting, we heard suggestions that the second amendment was no longer relevant – and then came the outrage from those who cannot accept any thought that our constitution may not be perfect.  Well guess what, it isn’t!  The central principal of our founding document is the separation of powers.  While this may make certain forms of tyranny impossible, it also impedes problem solving. Fake News - About Religious Freedom
